As if by magic, the universe, and its apparent explosion of individual forms, seems to appear. ‘As if by magic’ is not really an explanation. If anything, it points to the absence of one. Something seems to appear, but why, how and from where?
Answers to these questions, of course, may appear and some seem extraordinarily convincing. Yet the answers themselves are part of what seems to appear: the theories, the measurements, the thoughts about them and even the questions themselves. Each apparent form that simply seems to appear is not self-evidently separate, nor does it arrive with an explanation of what caused it. There are certainly patterns, but these too are simply what seems to appear.
And this appearance itself remains strangely ungraspable. Whatever form it takes, there is something about it that cannot quite be caught, a kind of silent stillness that seems to be neither something nor nothing. How beautiful.
Things seem to happen before and after other things. Yesterday seems to have happened, tomorrow seems to be coming, and right now seems to sit somewhere between the two. Things appear close or far away and bodies move from one place to another. Time and space seem to provide a useful language to organise ordinary life.
What naturally seems to appear does not itself describe itself as appearing in time. It does not say there was a time before it appeared, or that time was already there waiting for it. In the same way, it does not describe itself as appearing inside some independently existing space. And something remarkably ordinary can be missed here. Before the explanation, there is simply what naturally seems to appear: not nothing, and not self-evidently a collection of independently existing things. The wholeness of what naturally seems to appear is already self-evident.
And ordinary life carries on. Breakfast is eaten, trains are caught, scientists investigate the origins of the universe, appointments are made, yesterday is remembered and something is planned for tomorrow. All of this seems to appear too.
And somehow, before all our descriptions and explanations, there is something extraordinarily simple. This is already seeming to be appearing, already inseparable from everything else that appears: no-thing-no-thinging, already whole. No final explanation seems necessary for the ever-present wonder of it to be apparent.
With love,
Freyja

Join The Monthly Dialogue
Open questions, shared exploration, and dialogue around non-duality, wholeness, separateness, and the lived experience of being human.
These meetings begin from the possibility that all who appear are already appearances of the same inseparable wholeness. There are no teachers and no teachings in the conventional sense, but a shared exploration of wholeness, separateness, and the lived experience of being human.
Wholeness here is understood in terms of the inseparability of what is already appearing, complete as it is. Different traditions may describe this through the language of awareness, consciousness, being, Buddha nature, the divine, life itself, or countless other names. Equally, no description need be preferred. The openness of not-knowing remains central.
The meetings are not offered as a path, method, or programme of development, but as an open space for dialogue, inquiry, reflection, and silence. Human life in all its richness and complexity is fully embraced, including relationship, creativity, work, uncertainty, emotional life, neurodiversity, practical living, and the ordinary challenges and joys of being human.
The dialogues take place online on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm UK time. Attendance is free and all are welcome. Whilst there is no charge to participate, donations are always appreciated and help support the continuation of the meetings and the wider work.

Continue The Conversation
Reflective one-to-one conversations for co-celebrants.
If questions relating to identity, separateness, wholeness, meaning, practical living, psychological wellbeing, or the nature of experience itself are alive for you, you may also be interested in Reflective Conversations for Co-Celebrants.
These conversations offer a spacious and reflective environment within which life may be explored through dialogue, inquiry, and the shared language of the Universal Family. They begin from the possibility that nothing is fundamentally missing whilst remaining fully open to the realities of ordinary human life, including relationship, livelihood, creativity, trauma, neurodiversity, uncertainty, emotional life, and the practical challenges and opportunities that appear within daily living.

A Gentle Note
Nothing shared here is intended as psychotherapy, medical advice, or a substitute for appropriate professional support.
At times, questions relating to identity, separateness, meaning, wholeness, or the nature of experience can feel challenging, destabilising, or emotionally significant. Familiar assumptions and reference points may occasionally be questioned or seem less certain than before. This is not unusual.
Equally, psychological distress, trauma, neurological sensitivity, relationship difficulties, health concerns, grief, loss, or practical life circumstances may require care, understanding, and appropriate support. The exploration of wholeness does not place such matters outside the conversation, nor does it remove the value of seeking appropriate forms of help when they are needed.
If such exploration feels overwhelming or ongoing, it may be helpful to pause and seek support from trusted friends, appropriate professionals, or other sources of care.
Please take care of your wellbeing.
Above all, be gentle with yourself.
