What Makes The Children Of The Mind And Body Feel Genuinely Comfortable And Able To Express Their Innocent Creativity?
We can explore three interconnected aspects that contribute to their well-being:
Physical: A sense of physical safety is foundational. This includes shelter, a healthy environment, nutritious food and water, regular exercise, time to integrate learning and experiences, and the financial and physical resources to meet these needs.
Psychological: They thrive in an environment of social connection, supported by loving relationships where they can both give and receive healthy attention. Meaningful activities, opportunities for problem-solving, and contributing to their community through work all foster a sense of comfort.
Existential (Spiritual): Equally vital is their deep need to feel connected to something larger than themselves—a sense of belonging within a loving, supportive, and ever-present whole. This can be considered their “parental context.” It can be experienced through a connection with nature, a sense of purpose, or a spiritual understanding of life.
In my workshop, "The Universal Family," we explore this latter context in detail and understand the needs of the mind and body. Through this, we reconfirm ourselves as the parental life-affirming presence—the indestructibly whole context for all the many minds and bodies that are our children.
Psychology often focuses on the physical and psychological levels. While essential, these alone may not fully address a more profound sense of unease or disconnection that can arise. As we, the aware and loving presence in their lives, cultivate conscious presence—listening deeply, welcoming and cherishing the children unconditionally, embracing their strengths and vulnerabilities without judgment—we nurture the well-being of the whole family. When we provide this safe context for their lives, we unlock the potential for joy and connection.
Please join me on one of the Universal Family sessions. In these gatherings, using this metaphor of the Universal Family, we'll explore how we can embody the ever-present, unchanging, life-affirming awareness that is the foundation for our children's well-being. We'll discover how to understand the needs of their minds, bodies, and spirits, heal emotional wounds, and nurture the innocent joy and creativity that resides within each child.
This framework is based on an integration of evidence-based psychotherapy and non-dualistic wisdom.
